January 27 - High Holiday: Imbolc
These events are held Sunday afternoons, from 4p to 6p, at the Heart of the Dove, unless otherwise specified. All are welcome!
Facilitated by Kitty and Linda.
It's still cold, but have you noticed the sun staying out just a little longer? It's almost Imbolc. Join us this Sunday to celebrate!
We'll be revisiting the goals and dreams we made at Yule with the Holly King, revising and updating them, or creating new ones, planning our next steps, and visiting the goddess Brigid at her well or forge for Her blessing and wisdom. We'll also be making beeswax candles to take home so we have them to light whenever we need a reminder or a dose of motivation.
Social hour at 3 pm. Ritual starts at 4 pm. There's a potluck following so bring a dish to serve 8, and your own place settings.
February 3 - Class/Forum: Technopaganism
Facilitated by Devin and Kimberly.
Pagan practice is grounded in the past, in the stories and experiences of our pre-Christian ancestors. Those ancestors may also have looked to the past, but used technologies and ideas that were current in their societies. How can we incorporate the experiences of our world into our practice? How can we build spiritual and magical practices that consider the present and future as well as the past? Join us for a discussion on modern tools and metaphors in ancient stories and practices.
February 10 - Ritual: Technopaganism
Facilitated by Devin and Matt.
In this ritual, we will build on the previous week's discussion and explore ideas generated there in a participatory, experiential context. Will we practice divination by database? Explore ritual consciousness through the "eyes" of advanced AI? Journey in spirit as ghosts in the machine? Join us and find out.
February 17 - Bardic Circle
Facilitated by Kimberly.
Following two weeks of work informed and assisted by modern and future technologies, we return to the ancient technologies of story, song, poetry, and performance. We invite you to prepare a short piece to perform in the circle of community, or to come as an appreciative listener. The theme for this circle is "Tools of the Trade" - feel free to interpret that in whatever way you feel inspired (or disregard it altogether). Performances should be no more than 10 minutes long, and suitable for general audiences.
February 24 - Ritual: Pledge Sunday
Facilitated by Jamie and Matt.
Pledge Sunday is our annual opportunity to revisit our relationship to the community and re-commit to the work. More details of this ritual will be forthcoming! Check our facebook group for updates.
March 3 - Forum: The 8th Principle?
Facilitated by Barbara.
As Unitarian Universalists, we agree to affirm and promote the Seven Principles: goals of respect, justice, connection, and empowerment for ourselves, our community, and the world. Currently, there is a movement within the Unitarian Universalist Association to add an 8th Principle that would specifically dedicate the denomination to anti-racist work. In this forum, we'll discuss the proposal and what it might mean for the Association, Gaia Community, and all of us.
March 10 - Workshop: Divination Around the World
Facilitated by Barbara and David.
As we look to the patterns of the universe and our own minds and souls, we often turn to divination for hints and clarity. In this workshop, we'll learn and practice several different methods of peering into mystery.
March 17 - High Holiday: Spring Equinox
Facilitated by David and Erin.
The wheel is ever turning, and it brings us into Spring. We celebrate the Equinox as a time of flowering, covering the earth in abundant beauty. Please join us for a springtime ritual dedicated to Freya, followed by a potluck dinner. Please bring a dish to share and your re-usable tableware for the feast!
