Ritual: Transgender Day of Remembrance

We will hold vigil for and speak blessings to 45 of the American transwomen, transmen and genderqueer people who were violently taken into the Mighty Dead over 2021. We will encourage one another to care for ourselves in staying grounded in gratitude for breath and our body throughout. You only need to bring yourself, and a chalice. Optionally, you may also wish to have: (1) names of any transgender support or civil rights organizations that you’d like to share, (2.) food, drink, or other source of comfort (3) tissues (4) Salt, water, or uncooked grain (5) additional candles or lights (6) a quantity of dry barley, rice, beans, or other substance, or about 45 coins, buttons, or beads or similar small items, and a receptacle for these. (7)  For offering: A drink, food, or scent, or substance suitable for offering to deities.  We will be invoking Mnemosyne (a greek Titan of memory),  Aphroditus (a Cyprus patron of people going across or beyond gender binaries),Persephone-as-Soteria (a Greek and roman kindly spirit of safety in the living and patron of the dead) and Hermes (a guide of the dead, friend of the living).
