Workshop: Paper Talismans of Inscribed Gemstones

In ancient sorcery, gemstones were inscribed with magical images, sacred names, and mysterious symbols to achieve a diverse array of magical purposes. And in many practices, paper talismans are also effective ways to send petitions to deities, forge connections of the spirit, attract luck, or amplify other magical workings. Carey is teaching a workshop on combining the two concepts in one: making an “inscribed gem” by coloring a paper talisman and enchanting it toward a magical intention! No experience required, all materials will be provided in-person and printable templates will be available for online participants (you will need some kind of coloring materials, like art markers, colored pencils, watercolors, crayons, or acrylic paint). Carey will talk about the practical tips for coloring, the history of inscribed gems and paper talismans, and how these hybrid items can be used in a variety of modern practices.
