This Sunday: 1/3 – Welcome 2021!

As we welcome 2021 to our consciousness, join Jamie and Matt for a ritual facilitating the creation of your own spirit ally to help you remain protected, focus your energy, and manifest your good works into the world against adversity. You will find it helpful to bring your preferred means of divination, your journal or materials for recording your thoughts, items you generally offer to the spirits or power you work with and a means for making an offering, and your chalice and a means to light it.

You may find your divination more focused if you have considered your present obstacles and future goals in advance, but this is absolutely not necessary. See you for the first ritual of the calendar year!

Social hour begins at 3pm Central, ritual starts at 4.

This Sunday (12/20): Yule!

Please join us this Sunday for Yule.  We will be taking a journey back to the lively pagan village of our imagined history.  There will also be a discussion of the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn at the Winter Solstice. Together we will develop an intention that uses the energy of this Great Mutation conjunction to move us toward a brighter future.  Please bring a Seasonal candle (one that looks and/or smells like this winter season to you), a candle (votive) you can safely hold for a lighting to build energy, as well as a drink and snack to be consumed in ritual. The candle lighting portion of the ritual will work best in a dark room.

Pre-ritual social time begins at 3pm Central, and the ritual will start around 4.

This Sunday (12/6): Ritual – “On the Road Again”

With now three prospective vaccines on the way, and other non-COVID issues looking up, it’s time to think about being able to go out and interact with people. We are getting extremely ready to be able to get “On the Road Again.” We will look at the possibilities and promise of being able to travel again in an Urban-Pagan fashion. You will want to bring along a source of light-energy for a chalice; tap water; something to represent Earth and Air; and your hopes and dreams for travel in the future.
We gather for social hour at 3pm Central, and ritual begins at 4.

This Sunday (11/22): In Harmony with Spider Woman

Here's a Famous Rock Rising 830 Feet Above the Canyon Floor in Arizona You Wish You Can Climb but Can't

This summer Spider Woman called to Gaia Community from her home in the Southwest of the United States. Her call was a call to justice, a call to solidarity with the land and with the indigenous peoples whose land it was. This coming Sunday, we will revisit Spider Woman and listen to her call for harmony, for the Diné concept of hozho, of beauty, of peace with the way things are; a well of peace from which springs the strength to resist, to persist, to keep on in the face of difficulty, to move toward our own vision of a better world. We encourage you to have available, representations of the elements of earth (a crystal, stone, fossil, or even a potted plant) and of air (a feather, picture of a bird, wind chimes, bell, etc.), as well as a bowl of water and a candle to use as a chalice. And, please have something to write with and something to write on.

Ritual begins at 4 pm, with a social hour beforehand at 3 pm Central. We continue to meet online, so please join us on Zoom:

This Sunday (11/15)

Class: Devotional Acts

Devotional acts vary from a couple of moments a day to a day every few months. When we seek to offer the best we have in shaky and imperfect moments rather than postponing until the mythical best time, we offer rustic hospitality that builds more compassionate relationships with gods of guests like Hermes, with our communities, and with ourselves.  Please join Jamie and Aubry for a collaborative workshop on devotional acts.

We will be sharing Hermes-centric resources and inspiration for creating  or improving a working hearth, travel or e-shrine,  including common historical and modern associations, food/votive offerings, and ways to pursue eclectic and revivalist offerings of prayer/performance/justice/craft/study. We invite you to join us in contemplating starting or supporting a new devotional practice or reworking an existing one. There will be an opportunity for interested folks to ask the group for insights or witness committing to their next step.

One of the ritualists will be lighting a chalice and acknowledging Hestia and Hermes, but otherwise this will be an informal and open circle. Please bring your preferred way of taking notes, your questions or devotional projects , and any shrine items or resources that you would like to share.

This Sunday: 11/1 – Samhain Ritual

Join David and Matt for our community observance of Samhain in ADF-style ritual. Our work will focus on the energy raised by our fundraiser for Harvesters being funneled into symbolic Obols that will be offered to the well to pay for passage of those Beloved Dead who need help paying the fare of crossing. We will also be reading the names of those who have left this world since last Samhain. If you wish to add to the list please email it to RitualTeams@gaiacommunity.org or message David or Matt directly. We will be on Zoom, starting at 3pm for social hour and with ritual starting at 4pm:  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84395354101

As always in ADF ritual there will be time for praise offerings, oaths, or check-ins regarding oaths previously given. You will find it helpful to bring a chalice and means to light your candle, a beverage you enjoy toward the end of ritual when we receive the return blessing, and any offerings you wish to present. If you wish to contribute to the Harvesters fundraiser, you may do so at this link

This Sunday (10/25) – Forum: Dealing with Grief and Loss

As the year begins to draw to a close, and the dark and cold time begins, it is natural to feel a sense of loss. And as Samhain approaches when the veil between the worlds is thin, it is natural to begin to think of people and things we no longer have in our lives. This sense is particularly poignant in this year of pandemic, change, and confusion. We invite you to come together to share in a safe and confidential space, our feelings of loss, our grief, and also, when and where we can find it, our reasons to hope.

Please join us on Zoom at 3pm Central for some time to chat, and the discussion will begin at 4. https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86224331471
